All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, ESV

I recently started trying to do a little better job of getting some daily exercise.  When we first moved to Foxworth, I was committed to a little daily exercise, but at some point that got inconsistent and then basically non-existent.  I have renewed my commitment (and announcing it is part of opening myself up to accountability)!  I have to admit, though:  what I’ve committed to doing is not a lot...and sometimes I don’t want to accomplish the routine.  But I know that it is better for my heart (& even my mind) to be intentional about this.

At the beginning of the year, I presented a potential Bible reading plan (and made it available) that would lead us through the New Testament over the course of the year.  Remember?  It is the 5 x 5 x 5 Reading Plan (read through the NT in 5 days a week, 5 minutes a day, with instructions on 5 ways to “dig deeper”).  I sought to challenge you to spend time, daily, in the Word of God.  So, now that we have journeyed through just over half of 2024, I want to check in with you.  How are you doing?  Are you reading the Word?  Are you committing to faithfully consuming God’s Word, daily?

I recognize that some may choose to utilize a different plan than the one I have made available.  That is certainly just fine!  The purpose is not to simply encourage you to use the plan I presented, but to encourage you to read God’s Word.

  • Training involves planning.
  • Training involves a regimen.
  • Training involves a continuation.

If you haven’t been reading the Word of God, do not beat yourself up.  Start, today, looking into His Word.  Make a commitment to feast on the Word of God, daily, for the sustenance you need.  All of His Word is good for our “training in righteousness,” and His word is training us to be ready to walk in the good works for which we are created in Christ Jesus – works God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Eph. 2:10).

Continue in (or return to) your commitment to exercise (spiritually) by engaging in the training regimen of daily reading God’s Word.  (You can even use a Bible app and listen to the Word read!).  And trust He is at work in you as you diligently seek Him!

May The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.  2 Cor. 13:14, ESV.

Friendly. Faithful. Focused. For the Glory of the LORD!
