We see such concerning Jesus...

For even the Son of Man came not to be served

but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45

And we see followers of Jesus with such an attitude...

I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls...

2 Corinthians 12:15a

God’s people – those who are in Christ – are to be a people of service unto the Lord by serving others.

  • It is far too easy to sit back and let others serve us an our interests rather than be of service to the Lord by serving them.
  • It is part of our fleshy nature – that we must crucify & consider ourselves dead to – that wants others to honor us, serve us, and tend to our needs & interests.

But as followers of Jesus, we are to be actively involved in serving the Lord by serving others (both in our faith-family & beyond).

Soon, you will see a nominating report from our committee.  Between now and then, they will be seeking individuals to serve in different roles in the life of Foxworth First.  You may hear from them.  You may not.  But each should be prayerfully considering how He would have you serve.  Every single Christ-follower here at Foxworth First has been providentially brought to this place and is being led by Him to utilize the giftedness He has given for His glory.  The question is not “will you serve?”  The question is “will you submit yourself to the Lord’s will & follow in obedience?”

For those who have and willthank you!  Thank you for your willingness to serve & be part of what the Lord is doing in and through His church, here.  The Lord has uniquely gifted you, and He is able to do immeasurably more than you could ever imagine (Eph. 3:20).  So, embrace this opportunity with joy, faith, and a renewed sense of purpose.  As the new church year approaches:

  • Get ready to be used for His glory! God desires to use the life He has given you for His purposes and praise.
    • Prepare your heart for service.
    • Ask the Lord to align you with His will.
    • Ask Him to reveal your heart about your service & deepen your desire & motivation to serve Him.
    • Confess any sin and throw off any hindrance.
    • Ask Him to help you be present, be prayerful, be growing, and be united in truth.

If you are not actively serving in the life of His church, here:

  • Get involved for His glory (and your good...and the good of others)!
    • Seek the Lord to discover how and where He would have you be “plugged-in” and serving Him through this local congregation.
  • While not everyone will hold an “official position” in the life of the church, each of us can and are equipped to serve.
    • There are always things to do. There are a thousand things that need to get accomplished in the life of a church over the course of a year.
    • Some of those things will go mostly unnoticed by others – but they still need to be done.
    • There is always trash to take out – tables to wipe down – lights to be turned off and on – people to pray for and with – generosity to be expressed...and on and on.
  • Make a commitment to the Lord to honor Him by serving.

I can assure you – the Lord blesses the efforts of His people as we seek to walk in step with His will for His glory!  And I am looking forward to what He will do as we follow Him!

One other thing I’d like to tell you about:  we have several who are journeying to Guatemala in August.  Part of that mission is to build small housing units and participate in food distribution to those in need.  A housing unit costs $550; food distribution - $750.  We are looking to continue our partnership with those in Guatemala, and as you give to the Guatemala fund, you are facilitating that work...thank you!

May the LORD bless & lead us as we seek Him.

Friendly.  Faithful.  Focused.  For the Glory of the LORD!

Pastor loves you!

And I’m honored to serve HIM alongside you.
